As an indispensable commodity display and marketing product in today's society, paper display products have a long history. Human beings have invented paper for 2000 years. In addition to being an important carrier of information, paper also has a prominent function, that is, packaging.
Paper product packaging is a kind of packaging material products with paper and pulp as the main raw materials. The product range includes paper containers such as cartons, cartons, paper bags, paper cans and paper cans; Pulp molded egg tray, industrial packaging liner, paper tray, paper corner protector and other paper liner materials or inner packaging material products: corrugated cardboard, honeycomb cardboard and other plates; as well as paper lunch boxes, paper cups, paper trays and other paper disposable tableware. As the basic raw material of paper products, paper and paperboard specially used for packaging also belong to the category of paper product packaging.
Papermaking began in the Western Han Dynasty. According to the biography of empress Xiao Cheng of Zhao in the Han Dynasty, there was "a piece of medicine wrapped in a basket and a hoof book". Ying Shao noted: "he hoof, thin paper also.". This is the earliest documentary record of the Western Han Dynasty. Because the paper of the Western Han Dynasty was too rare and expensive, and it was not widely used, and silk, silk, bamboo and bamboo slips were still the main writing tools at that time, it was obvious that the paper at that time could not be used as a large number of packaging materials. It was not until the first year of Yuanxing in the Eastern Han Dynasty (A.D. 105) that the Shang party ordered Cailun to create a cheap "Caihou paper" on the basis of summing up the experience of predecessors. As a new milestone in packaging, paper stepped onto the historical stage. Since then, after the emergence of block printing in the Tang Dynasty, paper as packaging has been further developed. Simple advertisements, patterns and symbols have been printed on the packaging paper of commodities. The most common carton in modern society appeared in the early 19th century. The United States, Britain, France and other countries have begun to develop carton production technology. Until around 1850, someone in the United States invented the folding carton and production technology, which really made paper an important raw material for the packaging industry.
With the development of the times and society, the demand for paper as a packaging material is growing. According to the statistics of world paper production in 2000, packaging paper and paperboard accounted for 57.2% of the total paper products. According to the statistics of China Paper Association, in 2000, 2001 and 2002, the consumption of packaging paper and paperboard in China accounted for 56.9%, 57.6% and 56% of the total paper products respectively, which was close to the general trend of the world. The above data show that nearly 60% of the world's annual paper output is used as packaging, so the biggest use of paper is no longer the traditional information carrier, but as packaging materials.
